Anyone have an old VDO Cylinder Head Temp gauge around in decent condition?
I know these have fallen out of favor since they aren’t temperature compensated but curious if anyone still has one floating out there in the back of the parts bin, maybe unused & unloved? What cha’ got? |

Not to hijack, but does anyone know if these can be rebuilt? Sort of a loaded question. They are basically a sensitive milli-volt meter calibrated to a specific thermocouple output where x milli-volts output from the thermocouple equals y temperature. So if the actual movement is damaged it would be nearly impossible to fix. I’ve never seen the circuit but if it is using a op-amp or something similar to measure and amplify the milli-volt thermocouple output then a repair may be feasible. There is one on eBay right now where the movement seems to be damaged (showing 150F) with no thermocouple attached. Too expensive to take the risk on not knowing if it could be fixed so I posted here. |
