my car is 73 1.7. Bosch MPS part # 0280100041.
It has failed.
Got a replacement MPS on loan from a friend, but it is part #0280100019.
From what I have found this one is from a 70-71 car.
Can this be used on a 73 car?
Not sure what the difference is. They look the same???
Thx for the help.

They can be recalibrated within limitations. Find a list of MPS applicability here: https://jetronic.org/en/d-jetronic/mps

I think that is one of the few that might be close enough to be interchangeable. I've pulled vacuum vs inductance data and torn apart a bunch of these at this point and if I recall (and don't quote me on this) the biggest notable difference between the 019 and the 041 sensors was that the 041 sensors use a later casting design that can allow for more range of adjustment/diaphragm movement (same casting used on the 043/044 2.0 sensors) This is really only relevant if you are attempting to convert a 1.7 sensor to a 2.0 sensor as the 041 is much more easily converted. There were some other internal construction differences as well but as far as inductance curves the two units I measured were basically the same.

Of course we are talking about 50+ year old used parts here any any amount of monkeying, wear, or damage could have occurred at this point so there is really only one way to know if it will work properly on your car. Maybe 2 if you happen to have a good inductance meter and a good 041 unit to bench test it against.
