New rebuild calipers.
I have not yet bled the brakes.
Inner rear adjustment went as I remember it going. Inner pads set at .005. I found a couple different specs for the adjustment so I just went with .005.
Outer rear adjuster just spins. I can spin it as much as I want and the pad does not move closer to the rotor. This is for both rear calipers. So I suspect operator error.
It’s been 15 years and I don’t remember the magic words.

For late calipers do you not need to adjust the outer adjuster? Is it just the inner adjuster that needs to get set?

Both should be adjusted. Outer adjuster- Remove the cap and the 13mm lock nut. Turn the 4mm hex screw counter-clockwise to retract the outer piston.Inner adjuster- Remove the steel cover. Turn the 4mm hex screw clockwise to retract the inner piston.

Retracting isn’t an issue. The outer pad (and piston) is fully retracted. New pads when in with zero effort or issues.

My issue is I can’t get the outer adjusters to now push the piston and pad back towards the rotor, on either side of the car.

As for adjustment - I have seen everything from .002 to .008 inches. I picked .005. I think I saw PMB said .004. I suspect all of them will work just fine.

I’m kinda wondering if I need to bleed the brakes and just stomp the pedal a few times to wake up the outer adjusters or if there is something else I missed.

I can wait till Tuesday and just call PMB, but if I can figure it out this weekend all the better. I really should just know this, but the information leaked out of my brain at some point.

I had a similar problem. recall watching PMB rear caliper rebuild. I put the caliper on the bench, applied pressure by hand on the non compliant piston and was able to get the adjustor to engage.

You might need an inner adjuster gear. PMB sales them.
