Weird. Installing new B6 rear shocks with 914Rubber 100# springs but the bottom of spring doesn’t lock in the plate that came with the shock; it can slip to one side even when loaded onto shock. Pic of existing shock and bottom plate shows it’s maybe a press fitting?
What to do?? Friendly helpful advice appreciated! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bilstein Cup is upside down. ALSO measure from top to bottom of spring plate on OLD shock. Then move your Bilstein cup CLIP to approximate height. Check distance again.

Yep, inverting it works as the inner shelf acts to keep it centered and in place.
Still no clip; height looks ok. |

Yep, inverting it works as the inner shelf acts to keep it centered and in place. Still no clip; height looks ok. When you turned the base over it came down on a clip in one of those groves. The clip is holding the base up Ahh, yes I noticed the lip. It's a clip. Still learning after 52 years of owning this thing... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

BTW, anyone use the additional rubber spring (jounce bumper), P/N 901 343 301 00, Item #5 on diagram 402-00 with front bumper Bilstein B6 struts?
My old Boge struts have them; still in reasonable shape. |
