I am planning on having a big Type4 built for a 912 project and have already sourced a core engine.

Has anyone used this shop / can comment on the quality of work done?

SCAT in Redondo is another option.

Other suggestions in greater SoCal?

Thanks!

Built my own motor but used Jorge in torrance for parts and some machine work.
if you build a large type 4 it will need a oil cooler

Hi Colin - thanks for the reply and cool engine build! How was the experience working with Jorge?

SCAT is eye wateringly expensive, not an option for me at this point.

Anyone have experience working with Adrian at Headflow?

I did an exchange with them probably 8-10 years ago, it was a 2.0 for my 78 westy. Adrian i believe is the owners name he was fine to deal with, it was a good price, and the engine ran great no problems at all with good power etc. he did the break-in before I picked it up and actually fired it up for me on his stand.

I believe his biggest following is with the vw bus folks, maybe check "the samba" for more reviews.
