Hello Ken,
I don't mean to sound pedantic, but what I consider the best cover for my use may not be the same for you. I park my cars in a large garage where I simply need to keep the dust and other crud off the paint. I don't have to worry about wind, other cars, rain, etc. With that, I use black spandex/stretchy covers on my three cars. That type of cover would be useless outdoors. I also value that the black stretchy covers are easy to pack away and don't take up too much space. Are you looking for indoor? outdoor? what kind of protection are you looking from?; Rain? Prying eyes? Sun? Random scuffs from careless kids/wifes/partners? Easy to pack away/store? Do you want mirror pockets? no pockets? We'll need more info to help here. I will say that I purchased a 'seal skin' cover when I first got my 914; it fit okay (didnt' really conform to the back window area). Good quality. Would definitely protect from water, light scuffs, and prying eyes. Not sure how it would fare longer term because I ended up giving it away as it was just too bulky. I have purchased 2 "California Car Covers" for my Corvette and Boxster. These are good quality and seem to hold up very well over the long term. With the C2, locating the antenna hole was a nightmare. (c2 Corvettes have a power antenna that doesn't go down all the way, there is a little 8" nub that remains when the antenna is fully retraacted, you need to locate a hole for that). |
