So what is the trick to installing the rubber bellows for air flow to the alternator?
Trying to snake that into that tight spot with the clip inside seems nearly impossible. What am I missing?? Trying to put that in before installing my rebuilt alternator. Got a new one from 914rubber... TIA. |

Clip goes in AFTER you put the boot in.

I wouldn't want to try it with the engine in the car!
I remember having the fan shroud split when I installed the boot. Made access really simple. --DD |

I could not get the replacement boot from 914 Rubber to fit quite right. I purchased the correct clip for the boot that fits inside the fan housing, but once I pivot the alternator to tighten the belt, the boot leaves a gap as shown in the photo. Are others experiencing this as well? I had same issue with my boot. Seems there were 2 different diameter boots made and mine was the larger. The boot from 914Rubber is the smaller diameter one. Unfortunately I ripped old hardened boot up when taking it out, so had to make do with the imperfect fit. |
