Hello All

I pulled my car apart to paint. When I pulled the rear trunk lid off the hinge pivot pulled apart. I see that often on these cars the bracket that holds the pivot breaks off where it is welded to the side of the engine compartment. On my car it looks like the bracket was re welded. It looks like the pivot bearing on the hinge seized up and the torque on the bushing broke it loose from the bracket. It wore an oversized hole in the bracket.
I wasn't able to find a thread on this particular failure but suppose that this has happened before. I do not see any evidence that this bushing was welded into the bracket. Was this bushing a press fit into the bracket?
Looks like I will need to get the welder out to secure the bushing onto the bracket.

Will try to attach some pics to clarify.
