Trucked to Jarred’s in 2025 (to fix and finish metalwork)
Going to paint in 2026

Thank you Jarred! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I’m doing a Metalic Blue. Similar to the Max Moritz GT.

This is going to look sweet, Mark! I'll have to truck out east to see your debut at an Octeenerfest...

Well getting it into paint will be a milestone. I’m not sure on timing after that. My 67 is also going to paint as soon as the roads clear out from salt. And my business partner and I bought a building for our shop so moving into the new space should happen in march.

Everything I have planned has been done by the members here. There’s an amazing amount of inspiration to draw from. Rory’s recent GT thread definitely recharged my desire. It’s going to be a car inspired by the typical GT but a driver. Ben’s 993 heat exchangers and electric a/c. No roll bar. 7&8x15 Fuchs. Wevo 915 trans behind a 3.4 twin plug engine. A nice driver quality paint job. Steel bumpers and rockers (thanks again to Ben). Boxster brakes f&r with 911 ebrake lever mounted on the tunnel behind the shift lever.
Jarred Mcginness has been the guy getting the metalwork done on the chassis and I can’t thank him enough. There was still a lot of rust and poorly “repaired” repairs to fix before he could even get to the upgrades.

So a lot of the inspiration and parts accumulation is thanks to the world members. Here’s one example. Someone here shouted out a nos early wire harness on German ebay. Under $900 shipped. I was actually nervous that I wouldn’t be quick enough to buy it but I got lucky. It came in a sealed Porsche bag that smelled like harbor freight when opened. It did eventually air out. Wires feel soft and supple. A great score.

TC sold me a complete 914-6 harness that had been cut in half at the firewall. I’ll be using the steering column wires to duplicate the left side ignition, turn signal and wiper wires.

I did just purchase four complete 911 wire harnesses from restoration design. Not a small sum of money but they make a great product. If I hadn’t found this one, I would be buying from them.

Be careful what you wish for. The shop is like a rusty 914. Every layer we uncover looks worse than the last. It’s been used and abused. The pic is mostly the “after” pic. Before it looked like it should be condemned.
Here’s the almost finished engine room. 1000sq/ft compared to our old 180 sq/ft room.

Beautiful Shop!
You are the first person I have ever seen reference Max Moritz!
My 1979 911sc is a Max Moritz car imported from Germany by a rocket engineer. It was his all the way up until 1997 when I purchased it from him.
I’ve been working on it for 20 years and it’s been sitting in my garage painted for the last 4 years waiting to be finished.
That color blue will look amazing for sure.
