I know that there are a ton of options out there, but seeing the number of these motors that are listed in the Roll Call 914 6 GTs thread, I am wondering if one of you could give me an estimate on what these motors are worth, or what it cost you. Im currently looking at this motor for my Outlaw restomod and the cost im being quoted is comparable to a brand new Honda Civic Si.
If thats correct, then im (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) but not deterred. If you have one or similar for sale id be interested in talking. |

There’s no one price for what you are asking until you get more specific.
Mag or aluminum case New Mahle p&c’s or refurbished steel Induction-carbs, FI, itb’s Twin plug dizzy or coil on plug. Finding a pre built vs building from scratch vs modifying a running engine Find a running engine - $20 ish Build one - $40-60k Labor is pretty much the same for any engine. Parts aren’t all that different no matter what size engine you build. There’s no way to build an engine cheap. I have about 10 engines in the shop right now and more in the queue. It takes a good 100 + hours to break down, clean, measure, build, etc, etc. Add more hours for tuning and some additional depending on how custom the wire harnesses need to be. So multiple your engine building hourly rate by 100. Add up parts. Add in exhaust, powder coating, plating, refinishing and extras. $$$ |

You will spend another $2-5k (or even 10) for fuel and oil plumbing depending on parts choices. The factory put an external oil cooler on the 2.2S and the GTs. Once you spend that much on the engine...

Jeff_72, if you decide to build one, I have a 2.2L S long block (not a twin plug) that would be a good start. This is a plug and play after you add the induction parts. This engine came in my 914 six conversion. I removed it to install a 3.0L.
