Judging by the fuel pump in the frunk, looks like a late car.

I went to see this car yesterday. Mixed bag. Owner has had it 9 years. Never adjusted valves. Really didn’t know much about a 914. He’s had carbs tied several times. Engine hood hinge broke while I was there. Decals on back trunk, front painted. Clutch all the way down, but shifted well. Idles and ran ok. Valve covers leaking- no surprise. No rust. He bought it with all the suspension work already done 9 years ago. Unclear what engine in there. He thinks it’s a bus engine. Title says 72. It’s a crap shoot how long engine will last. Paint worn. Not sure what to think or what it’s worth

Did you note the VIN?
Clearly the front clip is a 75 (VIN plate location, front panel shape, bumper shock absorber mounts, fuel pump panel - although pump location “upgrade” has been done on many earlier cars).
Either this is a messed up title or a clipped car.
The interested buyer should do its due diligence.

Vin in window and front trunk match. Color code correct as to what’s on car. They may have transferred vin plate to front trunk. So possible different front clip and unknown engine, plus all the 911 suspension parts. Not sure where to go from here run or not. Obviously price is way too high

I can’t access to the craigslist pictures but it would be interesting to see if the rear bumper shock mounts are there (75-76). This could help determine if this is a front clip repair or a full VIN swap to a 75-76 car.

To your question, I will let the bodywork experts chime in, but I would personally stay away unless I could see full documentation of the work and have a bunch of key measurements checked.

It depends what you are paying and what you intend to do with it. Do you want a fun car to play with. Are you concerned about future values? Sometimes a car with issues that gets driven is a lot more fun than a pristine car that sits in a garage.

I bought it. 8 k. Good deal in my eyes. Just doing catch up maintenance, but runs, shifts and stops well. Truly no rust. I took rear spoiler and 914 decals off. Handles very well with 911 front suspension . I spoke to owner before the guy I bought it from. He autocrossed it and did all the mods. He hadn’t added a clip. I don’t see any evidence of that. Maybe different bumper. Webers are italian
