Can't measure the length of the "other" ones since I messed up the last one going in.
I know they are 3/16" - how long are they? Are they pop rivets or blind or what? Just want to get the correct replacement at my local hardware store... Thanks! Brian |

Ah - disregard - found it in a note from Chris here on another thread: 3/16 x 7/8
Carry on... |

Measure the thickness of the bushing. The rivet needs to be slightly longer to go through the firewall.
McFaddendale has a good selection of pop rivets. They cost pennies. Take the bushing there and test for the pop rivets for size. |

Thank you, Bruce!
I was going to measure for sure but can't take the bushing with me since I already have two of the rivets in - 3rd one didn't want to work and I didn't have any extras. |

Just recently I started putting a 4th rivet in the package since several people this year needed an extra one.

Can sheet metal screws be used instead of rivets ? Just curious, I haven’t install mine yet… On my brothers 914 I welded 3, M5 nuts inside the lower firewall. I had that area all opened up so it was pretty easy to do. Maybe use some M5 rivet nuts with some long bolts. I have my 6 to do yet and was thinking of doing just that. Just a thought. Can sheet metal screws be used instead of rivets ? Just curious, I haven’t install mine yet… Yes - the kit actually comes with sheet metal screws as well. I already had two of the rivets in so i wanted to stay with that if possible. Haven't gotten it back on the ground yet - I swapped in a new/better center console so I'm rewiring and cleaning things up in there...you know - mission creep. |
