https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-porsche-914-6-115/

After just a cursory review of the pix this appears to be one of the most complete original sixes I have seen

Incredible what is on this car and even what is not. Have never seen an original intact cold start valve and piping on a car. Have never seen the original fuel vapor system intact. No sway bars. 14” Fuchs.

Could that be original paint?

This will be an indicator of potential value of such a car. Pretty exceptional.

Listing states "headlight covers, doors, trunk lid, and tail panel were repainted under previous ownership" so we should assume the rest is real?

Why do I see fog lights but no fog light switch?

As good as can be.
Love the original yellowish protectant on the bottom and in the fenderwells and the
incomplete paint on the bottom of the longs.
Oddly it's missing the right front assembly line mount on the floor pan.

Plastic fuel lines? Yikes. Let's not be a slave to originality.

So that is what my -6 is supposed to look like. Also, that car just sits right!

I think this has way more potential! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I am almost tempted to go check it out. Kinda like the urge to poke the dead body with a stick.

The seller is Mark Burkit of Specialty Cars in Allentown, PA. He has been a regular customer of mine. He is a great guy, who knows Porsches and does things right.

I see fog lights, but no fog light switch on the dash. Does that mean they're wired as daytime running lights?

Are the two lines running under the driver rocker panel attached to the charcoal canister? Our car is a 1970. It doesn't have a charcoal canister.

For the heat exchangers, is that what they look like new? Or have they been ceramic or Cerakote?

Is this correct……not to be critical just trying to determine if the one antenna I have is proper.

Pretty sure the lines in the drivers rocker are part of the charcoal canister vapor recovery system. I was stumped at first because It is so rare to see them. There they are again routing up to the charcoal canister in the picture above showing the antenna motor.

I think that is a correct antenna but I’m not sure they were factory installed. Maybe a dealer install? The radio is the only slightly hokey piece in this thing. Looks to be a later install but I guess a Becker Montreal could be periodic correct.

The bottom of this car is incredible and supports the “ body color overspray on PVC undercoat” as being the correct original finish on the car underside.

Love the picture #116 of the seat belt insert residing in the little plastic “holster” on the driver side above the e brake handle.

Yikes $70K plus in preservation maintenance!

That looks like an electric Hirschman antenna, I don't think electric antenna's ever came from the factory but was the 'correct' dealer or owner upgrade if you wanted one. The OE antennae was no frills manual.

I think the power antenna and Becker radio are not original installs.
The charcoal canister and vapor lines are California items.
I've had two California delivery cars, both had that equipment, the other sixes I've
had did not.
The car sets a standard for 'as delivered'

Very nice example of a 914-6
Well documented rebuild of the engine and transmission.
Nothing like a clean shop with many pictures of your work.
Look at those pics of the carb rebuild.
Will be a great car for someone.
Now to see what she will bring $$$

I was assuming that was a power antenna but I have never seen one. Y’all have confirmed my theory. Thanks

Have never seen an original intact cold start valve and piping on a car.

There's a reason for that... The reason being that they helped the intake to catch fire, so they were removed by the dealers very early on.

There is no real "correct" for radio installations on a 914. They were pretty much all installed by the dealer or the importer.

I dunno if I agree with that DD, as the options list includes 12 factory radios for both /4s and /6s. M440 is the antenna and speakers only. Factory installed. Now it could be that USA dealers specified the cars out without a radio looking at a profit margin and as they could install a USA-market radio as a dealer install item. And I recall seeing a few COAs with a factory radios listed. I think that’s what happened.
