Hi there, i have been lurking here for a while now trying to learn as much as i can prior to purchasing a restoration project. Glad to say i have found a suitable candidate so will be asking lot's of questions when the project starts.
Is there a way of finding out where my car was first registered.? I am led to believe it to be a Euro delivered car due to the lack of the front fender lights. Can i get a COA anywhere.? Any idea if these two welded plates on the firewall are factory.? What would they be used for.? Many thanks Dave |

The body and motor numbers would also be helpful. And no, those welded plates in the engine compartment don’t look factory. |

I’ll bet those are anchors for a driver side shoulder harness.

Thanks for the replies and the welcome. I thought that about the welded plates for a Harness although they looked a little to close together.?
Regarding the car, it's a 1971 model year, 1.7 in SIgnal Orange. I checked the database here, it is not listed. Chassis is: 4712912960. |

why not give VW Heritage (germany) a try for a VW birth certificate?
after all its a euro delivered 914 which means its a VW-Porsche 914. i think its called a birth certificate or something like that. i've seen them and they in fact have more information that porsche COA. they can also confirm or deny original engine number built with. they do them for karmann ghias. built at same factory. i believe it might be doable. esp for a euro 914. if i am not mistaken euro 914s were actually sold by VW dealers not porsche dealers. |
