You can try a pin spanner but if that nut has been on there a long time, you will probably need a pipe wrench to remove the gland nut. The nuts have a lot of surface area on the threads so can be pretty difficult if they are corroded.

Let us know what you think of the KYB’s. I’ve had them on cars and never been a fan and that was my 20 year old body, not my current 59 year old one.

Haha yes I have had KYB on a few cars and they don't ride very well. I got this set for a good deal. Hopefully they will not be too bad.

I will also be interested in your experience…
My experience with KYBs has been good, but not on a 914. I have them on a classic late ‘50s US car, and compared to OEM’s or Monroe, they are worlds better. Not uncomfortably harsh but not too soft either. Admittedly, totally different animal. |
