Looking for the knurled knob and set screw and whatever other hardware is needed to secure the odometer cable to the bottom the dash. Car is a 74 if that makes any difference.
Please let me know what you may have and price.
Thanks.

I think what you are talking about is the odometer reset cable. There are old and new versions, '74 takes 'new'.

He needs the knob, not the cable.

I have a '74 and it has a metal knob. I think late knobs('75/'76) are plastic, but I could be wrong.

Interesting topic . I also need this nut for my odometer cable so I can mount it .I got a new cable from somewhere but it didn't have the nut so cable just lies under the dash now. My old cable was also missing this nut .

If you have the measurements, you should check McMaster Carr. I know these are standard, but they have metric too.

I have two restored 1974 914s and neither uses a nut to secure the odometer cable. I also have a complete early and late spare odometer cable assemblies, and the late one does not have a nut. It fits through the hole rather loosely. The early style is much more secure.

Some confusion here. It is not a nut, but a knurled knob braced to the end of the odometer cable with a set screw.

Thanks for the idea. There is a large McFadden Dale close to me so I think I will check there first .

Wondering if the smooth surface of the McMaster-Carr part will have the grip necessary to turn the cable easily.

Aase part is now available at $42...comes with set screw and allen wrench.

This is when I ask myself the question...is it worth my time to find one, measure it, and match it to one of the McMaster-Carr items and hope it will turn the cable, or press the easy(but pricey) button and purchase the Aase part.

1974 and later odometer cables don't use that knurled metal knob with setscrew. They use the push-on plastic knob. The later cables weren't designed for the setscrew but it may work on the flat edge. I have spares of both complete assemblies.
