hi Boy and Girls,

Kevin here from Mile High 914,
buzy Guy here,
am tinkering away on 914's , in fact,
Mostly on Evil Herb's ,
(Herbie cousin)
I had ole Herb's for years,
ton of work (more like, proper correction of stuff as should have been done)
since the owner abandon Herb's years ago, I still took care of it.
Poor Evil Herb's storage conditions , constansly outside,
I've try every effort to keep water out,
only a Garage can do that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

"Ran when I parked it!"
Sucks to hear that ,but,

even worse if it's your 914.

so,
I made plans to get Herb's up and running to sell,

a new 914 owner ,
I'm helping get his newly acquiered WHITE (Repaint) 914.
Usual Hell Hole issues ,BUT MAJOR Cancer ate into complete structual part,
Longs ,Trailing arm mounts. ete too much to list.

Long story short,
Way to big a project for him.
I supported him , admiring his stamina to go through it.

when he agonizingly being defeated, relized the size of the project is too much.
Dude was Bummed!

I was working on Herb's at the time,
I say nice things yada,yada ,

hard to cheer someone when their Dream ended.

so I gesture to Herb's, Herb's for sale.

worked out a deal,

"Snow white" I named it, It's WHITE ! is in the deal
That's going to be another story as I;m also buzy getting Mile High 914 more organize,
for sales purposes as well as ,
('What do I have !?' I have WHAT!?")

so Herb's
Ignition switch fixed(PIA ! it's a '71)
Brakes fluch and checked
etc
etc..

Fresh fuel,
start Herb's up,
took a few try, the usual,
barly get it to run,
let warm up,

doesn't seem 100%
Evil Herb's has complete new FI fuel line throuhout.
so checking thru the 914 list (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Found a kinked fuel line under the tank, dangnubit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
Inspect FI wire harness,
found several cracked casing, (taped over)
Cobblejob wire repair to one of injectors wires
all the 914 Bugs I can come up with to check for.

Herb's starts up after a couple of try's
as it's began to warm up and starts purring,
Great idle!
but, Gutless, horrible throttle responce,
Finally found out,
Herb's is running on Two cynliners !
#3 and # 4 injectors are not firing do to no pulse from FI harness.

Is this the brain / computer issue?

Sorry for the long intro,
Evil Herb's story,
which I will write another time,

remember
everything works,
Spark,
Fuel,
injectors,

Just no pulse at #3 n #4
weird (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

How are you testing for pulse? My understanding is that MM isn't a good way to verify and that a noid light should be used instead.
IIRC, the injectors are paired. 1/3 and 2/4. If that's true, since you're saying 3 & 4 aren't firing, I'd start by checking the FI harness before moving to the ECU.
Also check the injector grounds which tie together at the back of the engine.
If I've got the pairing wrong and #2 and 3 are paired, then maybe the trigger contact points.

Jeff,

Where exactly are the ground points located? My 73 has all the grounds together towards the rear of the engine.

Does this matter?

Djet FI grounds are the three pairs of white wires connected to the trispade lug at the top rear of the engine case.

Zoinks, the wiring in the picture looks sketchy at best.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif)

Check your grounds, they seem to cause all sorts of issues.

Thanks Dave, now to go and play with the ventilation controls, the C clip that hold the 3 arms together popped off and fell somewhere. Had to take radio and ashtray out to get my hands in there and I'm not using those clips to put it back, going to use a bolt and nut and be done with it. OH GRRRRRRRR the pumpkin doesn't play nice sometimes. lol
