I have a MaxJax lift in my hobby shop. When I had it installed (I went with pro installers), I had them put anchors in for two different widths. I've only ever used the narrow width, with my very narrow MG TD, but just recently I bought a very nice 1973 914 2.0 from a Porsche mechanic in Virginia. Today, I installed the post in the wide position, and it's just right for the 914! This photo is of the car in the highest lift position.

I used the standard pads without the lift extensions, and added an ordinary hockey puck at each location to make sure the lift arms didn't touch the side skirts. I carefully aligned the pads and pucks under the four lift points - the round dimples with a hole in the center. Here are photos of front and rear points.

I measured the distance between the front mounting bolt holes on the two posts, in case someone else is installing a MaxJax for 914 use. It was just shy of 119 inches in my setup. Here's a photo of that also, so you can see where I was measuring from.

Hey DeWitt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png)

I live down the road from you in Dallastown, and also have a 914 and a MaxJax. Though at the moment my car isn't on the lift, my Rabbit has been hogging it for the past year.

I did twin Busch. As far as anchors go the engineering supports 10x the diameter of the anchor. If you are using .5" anchors, 5" works, if .625" they risk cracking. With a 914, you probably will not be having any issues, but here's some info-
https://www.engineeringexpress.com/wiki/spa...ncrete-anchors/

I know it says 12x, but all job specific engineering I've seen is 10x.

Hi Mark,

The installers used the recommended hardware from MaxJax. I believe they were M16 bolts, almost exactly equivalent in size to 5/8" UNC. There are 5 bolts in the base.

I wasn't familiar with Twin Busch lifts, but I looked them up and they look really nice! I chose the MaxJax for two reasons: low ceiling clearance, and the ability to remove one or both posts when I need more open space. I chose pro installers so they could evaluate my 70-year-old concrete. I've been using it several years now, and all seems well.

I just received a shipment from 914Rubber via an order on PMB Performance, all in good shape. Thanks!

Thanks, Zach! Shoot me a message if you're ever in the Lancaster area. My shop is right downtown, and I'd love to show it off.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the matching yellow color scheme. Is the MG yellow as well? You may need to repaint the lift so as to be in synch with the lifted car.

Those locks are there for a safety reason. Better use them.

Hi 914Werke, if you look at the photo of the car on the lift, you can see a gray steel beam , right at the top of the windshield. Clearance under that beam is exactly 8 feet. Before I had that beam installed, there was a post right at that spot, so the beam actually made the shop space useable.

Hi Jim, I definitely use the position locks, every time! In fact, I settle the car onto the locks to take pressure off the lift hydraulics, since the car can be up for days at a time while I'm working on it.

Those donuts aren't designed for lifting. They're attach points the factory used on the assembly line. You can buy the slotted rubber discs on Amazon. There are several styles and IIRC one from MaxxJax. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZQLW9G?ref=pp..._title&th=1

@DeWitt

The directions say the locks must be used. What I couldn't find in the instructions or online is how much torque to tighten the floor bolts with. I've been using 50FT-LB.

Ah Im in the process of a similar effort. My own home garage has a low ceiling as well which is why Ive looked at the Maxjack off & on
I also have a center post that Im looking to remove in lue of a clear span by replacing the x2 11' beams with a single I beam (like yours?) or a U-channel added to the existing beams, moving the supports to outsides. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But... Everybody seems to use them for lifting.

Thanks for the link. I just bought a set of the square pads.

I can lift my 914 or 911 about 3 ft off the ground before they hit the garage door opener.

I did have a scare the other day with my 911 on the lift. Opened the door and it only opened partially then stopped. I realized I had the engine lid up and the opener arm hit the lid and stopped the opener. Luckily the arm hit the rubber part of the whale tail and did no damage. What a dipshit.

When you replace your garage door opener you might want to consider a wall mounted unit. They attach to the torsion bar & are super easy to install. Chamberlain makes them & they're about $500. Scroll down to the third row in the link below.

I think 50 is right in the ballpark. I used epoxy anchors (per @mb911 suggestion) I’m very happy with the lift.

Great lifts the epoxy fasteners had a spec I don’t recall as I got a 4 post lift with an air over hydraulic jack tray on it as a safer storage /work setup. Maxxjax was great though
