Hey all,
I live in a gated community with an HOA. My garage is packed with "stuff" and working on cars at the curb isn't allowed. Truth be told, I'm not much of a wrencher anyway. I'm looking for someone reasonably close to the west San Fernando Valley area who really knows their way around these cars and their mechanicals. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that a shop that is expert in vintage air-cooled Volkswagens would be just as good, if not better, than an indy Porsche shop that's used to working on 911 flat sixes, so I'm open to that as well. I've got the original 1.7L Typ 4. I've been in to one indy Porsche shop so far and while they were super friendly, informative, and they had at least two dozen vintage Porsches on site, they overlooked an obvious little detail on the work they did for me that, for the money spent, left me dissatisfied. Thank you! |

The SFV used to have so many great options for these cars, now, not so much. I know this group have great resources in the OC and San Diego.... For most of us, we are our own best mechanics. 914s are not that difficult to maintain, and learning their nuances can be satisfying.

Just over the hill in Culver City, Precision Tech>>Alex Wong, my go to mechanic and 914 specialist. He also worked/raced with (the late) JW over at Otto's.
