Watching . . . Tempted . Been watching this one as well as Ben’s.

The thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is the debate on whether I want to risk $10k+ of parts and case machining to a used cooler.

But . . . Who’s to say that a new cooler can’t be contaminated during manufacture in this new 3rd world manufacturing environment we live in where old stuff is often better than new stuff.

I know . . . I know . . . cleaning and testing services available at about $140 from Ollie’s and other places.

Also can’t decide if I want to get tied to AN fitting vs OEM. So many decisions. Plus my build is on hold for at least another year as I build the garage so it would immediately go into storage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Just a point of view from someone that needs a cooler and has been watching. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

This one is off a nice running engine so at least you know that. I posted mine on my website. It will sell when it sells. James cooler is nice and well worth that and personally I would have just left it in his car but he is in search of even more cooling

Why is the AN elbow/tube end bent? Is this so it clears something upon installation or the part was bent at some point?

Certainly was not making a negative value judgement. I agree price is very good and I’m a bit surprised it hasn’t sold already too. Just wanted to provide a little context of the debate going on in my head that has kept me from pulling the trigger. It’s crazy how much an oil cooler costs new for what they are.

No offense intended. I’ve brought parts from both you guys and think you’ve both always offered great parts and have kept them within the community!

Oh I didn’t take it negatively. I was just pointing out it was a good value

The bend is unique to the 914-6 since it's a flip-flopped 911 engine and the bend is towards the oil tank in the fender. Here is what a new one looks like from Sierra Madre Collection:

Yes, the 914-6 cooler has the elbow, I am aware of the difference.

The question related to the fact that the AN elbow is either welded crooked to the tube or the tube got bent at some point because the modified cooler/fitting is not 90 degrees.

I was just wondering why? Is it because at 90 degree there is an interference with the AN connection not being in the same plane as the original metric connection on the stock part? Is it because the thing got bangged up? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ah gotcha. I bought it this way in 2019 and have no reason to believe it was ever banged up or bent. It was simply welded this way.
